Sri Maa Anandamayi Ashram Trust, Indore
Sri Sri Ma Anandamayi Trust is a registered ATG Charitable Trust founded and run by devotees of Sri Anandamayi Ma in Madhya Pradesh, Central India. Its President is Sri Swami Kedarnath Maharaj, and it has a board of ten Trustees—all prominent local citizens and devotees.
The aim of this trust is to promote the Teachings and Life of Sri Anandamayi Ma, and to provide a facility for serious spiritual aspirants to both learn of Her teachings, and to have a suitable environment to practice them with the hope that this will bring spiritual awakening to many and also help restore the order of Dharma within society and the daily life of the world. The Trust runs projects in three fields: Spiritual, Social, and Educational.
The Trust governs two ashrams, one in the city of Indore, and the other in the pilgrimage shrine of Omkareshwar, about 80 km south of Indore. The Indore Ashram is a center of learning and study, spiritual celebrations and observances, and a gathering place for devotees to have satsang and classes. The Omkareshwar Ashram is an isolated meditation retreat, plus a center for education and refinement of the local youth.
The Trust oversees several active social projects. The BRF (Bhagavatkriya Research Fellowship) Youth Club involves young people of all ages along with their parents in active social reform in both the Omkareshwar and Indore regions and in outlaying areas. It promotes ecological consciousness, community awareness and service to society and humanity. The Club has regular clean-up drives, medical camps, tree-planting projects, and many other helpful social activities.
The Matri Shakti Group is a Ladies’ Group founded by the ashram and run by the Trust to help local village ladies gain a greater degree of self sufficiency and confidence. The Group meets regularly, overseen by a female teacher from the School, and the women discuss their problems, learn handicrafts and computer skills, and exchange ideas for improvement in life. This group has given the local ladies a voice and courage to be more independent, and is greatly appreciated by the local population.
The Trust runs Ma Anandamayi Tripura Vidyapeeth, a very successful school in Omkareshwar, located just above the ashram premises. This school is for the local Adiwasi (aboriginal) children from very poor families and offers a complete education from Kindergarten (ages 6 and up) through 10th Grade (ages 18-19 years). It to date has an enrollment of over 330 students, both boys and girls. The children are given free classes, books, uniforms and food. This school has had an amazing effect on the local children and the entire community of Omkareshwar since its establishment in the year 2001. It is a spiritually-based learning Institution, based on the universal teachings of Sri Anandamayi Ma.
The Trust runs the Ma Anandamayi Gurukul, a hostel for about 40 boys in the ashram premises of Omkareshwar. These boys, in addition to their school work are tutored in many of the deeper aspects of Indian culture, such as music, Vedic Astrology, Yoga and meditation and Aryuvedic healing.
